Fuck You Michael Moore

Let’s get one thing straight. I like Michael Moore – as aFilm Maker, Raconteur, Comedian and Public Benefactor; but as a political commentatorhe stinks.

Operation Hilarity – This is Moore’s lame attempt to support and encouragehis friends and fans to back Republican Rick Santorum as Presidential nominee. He knows fullwell that the country would never go for him (Santorum) as president and so almost by default, he knows that the country would be guaranteed another 4 years of Potus and Flotus living it large in the White House. What a crock of Horse shit and here’s why;

When Moore was berating Bush for taking the nation into illegalwars and speaking out against American tyranny in Iraq, Moore’s poster boyand soon to be dear leader went on the record saying “Guatanamo will be closed and you can take that to the bank”.  Yes folks, a new era of cuddly feely reachee outee foreign policy was said to be a loomin' over the horizon.

As Moore is fond of reminding us, the dear leaders' middle nameHussein, means good. So, good is waging war in the Middle East and Africa, good is removing our God given rights and liberties at an alarming rate and good is presiding over an ever tanking economy, financialtakedowns and foreclosures, oh and good is all quiet on the torture of foreign nationals and US ones (Bradley Manning) yeah good …

Moore now stands on the safe ground of the occupy movement. Wedon’t hear him speak out about the ongoing fouls deeds in Libya for example. No sir, heis right behind the anointed one - the Oscar winner is ringing the bell andshouting out his name across the land, "good" is the only person who can save America.Michael, my dear neighbour, your fat ass is falling out of your trousers!

I heard Michael speak to a full house before Christmas atthe State Theater in my town of Traverse City (thank you for this splendid giftto the City by the way Mike).  As always the be-hatted Mikey was holding court and informing us how convincingly America was rapidly slidinginto the doo doo when lo and behold Chairman Mike began to enlighten us! Apparently, the dear leader is a guiding light and we must forgive him histransgressions. "None of it is his fault" did you know – oh no, it’s all the fault of Congress/Lobbyists/Staff (delete as appropriate) for all the bad advice he’s been given and what’smore, it’s all our fault too for not heeding to what the sainted Kenyan mtoto had been telling us. Yes really!

Michael, are you really such a hypocrite, a globalist shill?Somehow I don’t think Santorum is shaking in his well-heeled boots (According to Santorum's tax returns, Rick made $659,000, $952,000, $1.1 million, and $923,000 from the years 2007-2010. He also owns a $1.4 million dollar home and $1.75 million in rental properties) aboutoperation hilarity for it is you Michael , you who is hilarious but it’s not reallyfunny is it Michael? Not when American foreign policy is killing thousands every day,  not when  the U.S. ranks 23rd among industrial nationsin infant mortality.( African-American infants die at nearly twice the rate ofwhite infants). Not when one out of every eight children under the age oftwelve in the U.S. goes to bed hungry every night.

So, on this one I'm sorry but - Fuck you Michael Moore.

Warren Buffet: The Joker

I say I say I say ---- have you heard the one about one of the worlds' richest man who said that homeowners in foreclosure victimized the Banks? Well you have now...

This laughable tale is courtesy of Warren Buffet one of the richest men in the world, fully paid up member of the Robber class and founder of the investment firm Berkshire Hathaway (one reason why I don't insure with Geico by the way).

Isn't it funny that when Bankers come out on top that's business and should be applauded but when the little guy gets some small victory against these parasitic bastards its an epic fail.

Fuck you Buffet I say..

Read it as they say and weep...........

Warren Buffett, who controls the biggest shareholding of the No. 1 U.S. mortgage lender, said banks were victimized by some homeowners who refinanced their loans before getting evicted.

“Large numbers of people who have ‘lost’ their house through foreclosure have actually realized a profit because they carried out refinancings earlier that gave them cash in excess of their cost,” Buffett, chairman and chief executive officer of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (BRK/A), said Feb. 25 in his annual letter. “In these cases, the evicted homeowner was the winner, and the victim was the lender.”

Warren Buffett, chief executive officer of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. for more than four decades, said the board has picked his eventual replacement. Buffett didn’t identify the choice in his annual letter to shareholders Feb. 25, saying instead that directors were “enthusiastic” and have had “a great deal of exposure” to the person designated to take over as CEO. Buffett, 81, didn’t specify a timeline for the switch. Dominic Chu reports on Bloomberg Television's "InsideTrack." (Source: Bloomberg)

Foreclosures have claimed about 5 million homes since the property market began its slide in 2006. That has saddled lenders like Bank of America Corp. with defaults, vacated properties and lawsuits. Berkshire, whose stake in Wells Fargo & Co. (WFC), the largest U.S. mortgage lender, is valued at more than $11 billion, invested $5 billion in Bank of America last year.

“It’s the mercenary side of Buffett,” said Jeff Matthews, a Berkshire shareholder and author of “Secrets in Plain Sight: Business & Investing Secrets of Warren Buffett.” “Rationally, it’s an interesting observation. But it ignores the huge human- cost side of the equation.”

Buffett, who publicly defended Goldman Sachs Group Inc. in 2010 against accusations it misled clients, used the letter to renew his support for banks. The industry is facing criticism from Democrats including President Barack Obama, who in his January State of the Union address said bets by lenders prompted the 2008 credit freeze and “left innocent, hard-working Americans holding the bag.”

Enough With the Lambasting

Buffett, an ally of Obama’s, has won praise from Democratic lawmakers as the billionaire campaigned for higher taxes on the wealthy. Omaha, Nebraska-based Berkshire owns warrants to purchase $5 billion of stock in New York-based Goldman Sachs.

“Maybe this was kind of a message to his Democratic buddies,” said David Rolfe, chief investment officer of Berkshire shareholder Wedgewood Partners Inc. “Buffett is saying, ‘We know where the egregious acts were, so enough with the lambasting of the banking system and all these bankers.’”

Blame for the housing bubble and subsequent slump should be shared among lenders and borrowers, as well as the government, bond-rating firms and the media, Buffett has said. In his letter, read by investors around the world, Buffett praised Jamie Dimon, CEO of JPMorgan Chase & Co., and Bank of America’s Brian T. Moynihan. JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs, Wells Fargo and Bank of America have all repaid U.S. bailout funds.

“The banking industry is back on its feet,” Buffett said.

Megalomania, Insanity

Buffett and Berkshire Vice Chairman Charles Munger, 88, have criticized bankers for contributing to the housing bubble. Munger, in July, blamed the real-estate boom on “megalomania, insanity and evil in, I would say, investment banking, mortgage banking.” Buffett said in October 2010 that Wall Street helps society through finance, while its bets may do harm, “like a church that’s running raffles on the weekend.”

Charles Ortel, managing director of Newport Value Partners, said lenders failed to do sufficient underwriting because they counted on selling the mortgages to investors.

“So nobody had any skin in the game, except we the taxpayers, as it turned out,” Ortel said. “Banks didn’t do the required credit work.”

Wells Fargo posted record profit for the fourth quarter as mortgage financing improved, the San Francisco-based company said last month. Charlotte, North Carolina-based Bank of America has gained 42 percent this year in New York through Feb. 24 as it swung to a quarterly profit.

“Wells Fargo is prospering,” Buffett said. “At Bank of America, some huge mistakes were made by prior management. Brian Moynihan has made excellent progress in cleaning these up.”

Useless Tossup Tosser News - Michigan

"Recent polls suggest the Michigan contest is essentially a tossup",

Republican presidential contender Rick Santorum is courting an unusual coalition of tea party activists, social conservatives and Democrats to try to defeat Mitt Romney in Michigan's GOP primary.

Santorum, a former Pennsylvania senator, is known for unflinching conservative views on social issues. But as the hours ticked down to Tuesday's primary in Romney's native state, the Santorum campaign used automated telephone calls to encourage Michigan Democrats to vote against the former Massachusetts governor.

"We're going to get voters that we need to be able to win this election. And we're going to do that here in Michigan today," Santorum said Tuesday morning when asked about the "robo-call" outside the New Beginnings Restaurant in Kentwood, Mich.

He suggested that Romney did much the same thing by courting independent voters in New Hampshire's GOP primary. He also accused his rival of employing his own "dirty trick" by running automated calls featuring a recording of Santorum endorsing Romney before the 2008 election.

"I didn't complain about it. I don't complain. You know what? I'm a big guy. I can take it," Santorum said.

Only Michigan Republicans may vote in Tuesday's GOP primary, but party rules allow voters to change their affiliation temporarily on the spot.

Santorum's automated message says Democrats should send "a loud message" to Romney by voting for Santorum.

Romney called the tactic "a new low" in the campaign.

"I wasn't too concerned about what the Democrats were putting out there because I figured it wouldn't have much impact. But Sen. Santorum did something today which I think was deceptive and a dirty trick," Romney said on Fox News.

Santorum made two appearances at local restaurants near Grand Rapids early Tuesday, a city set in a western Michigan region home to many social conservatives and tea party supporters. With his wife, Karen, at his side, he shook hands for a few minutes at each stop, but did not say much beyond thanking the sometimes unsuspecting diners for being there. He did not ask for anyone's vote.

Santorum's recent rise to prominence in the Republican presidential contest has been fueled by a continued reluctance among the GOP's more conservative voters to embrace Romney.

"I don't trust him," Carol Alexander, of nearby Wyoming, Mich., said of Romney while waiting for Santorum to arrive at the Rainbow Grille in Grandville, Mich.

A self-described religious conservative, she said she was leaning toward Santorum, who she says "speaks what he believes."

Alexander said she's been inundated with phone calls from campaigns in recent days, adding that "it's been getting kind of nasty," but discounted the impact of Santorum's latest tactic.

"Do you really think a liberal is going to vote for Santorum?" she asked with a smile. "I don't think they're going to do it."

Recent polls suggest the Michigan contest is essentially a tossup, despite Romney's strong ties to the state. He was born and raised in Michigan, where his father served as governor.

"I think the fact that we are doing as well as we are is a pretty big deal in this state," Santorum said last week in Lansing.

No matter the winner, the two men stand to split the 30 delegates at stake because Michigan distributes delegates proportionally. By contrast, Romney is favored to capture all 29 delegates in Arizona's primary, also Tuesday, which features a winner-take-all system.

America 1950 vs. America 2012

The Economic Collapse

Would you rather live in the America of 1950 or the America of 2012? Has the United States changed for the better over the last 62 years? Many fondly remember the 1950s and the 1960s as the “golden age” of America. We emerged from World War II as the wealthiest and most powerful nation on the planet. During that time period, just about anyone that wanted to get a job could find a job and the U.S. middle class expanded rapidly. Back in 1950, America was still considered to be a “land of opportunity” and the economy was growing like crazy. There was less crime, there was less divorce, the American people had much less debt and the world seemed a whole lot less crazy. Most of the rest of the world deeply admired us and wanted to be more like us. Of course there were a lot of things that were not great about America back in 1950, and there are many things that many of us dearly love that we would have to give up in order to go back and live during that time. For example, there was no Internet back in 1950. Instead of being able to go online and read the articles that you want to read, your news would have been almost entirely controlled by the big media companies of the day. So there are definitely some advantages that we have today that they did not have back in 1950. But not all of the changes have been for the better. America is in a constant state of change, and many are deeply concerned about where all of these changes are taking us.

There has never been any society in the history of the world that has been perfect. America was flawed in 1950 just as America is flawed today.

But that doesn’t mean that we should not reflect on how much things have changed over the past 62 years.

So which version of America would you rather live in?

America 1950 vs. America 2012 – you make the call….

In 1950, a gallon of gasoline cost about 27 cents.

In 2012, a gallon of gasoline costs $3.69.

In 1950, you could buy a first-class stamp for just 3 cents.

In 2012, a first-class stamp will cost you 45 cents.

In 1950, more than 80 percent of all men were employed.

In 2012, less than 65 percent of all men are employed.

In 1950, the average duration of unemployment was about 12 weeks.

In 2012, the average duration of unemployment is about 40 weeks.

In 1950, the average family spent about 22% of its income on housing.

In 2012, the average family spends about 43% of its income on housing.

In 1950, gum chewing and talking in class were some of the major disciplinary problems in our schools.

In 2012, many of our public schools have been equipped with metal detectors because violence has become so bad.

In 1950, mothers decided what their children would eat for lunch.

In 2012, lunches are inspected by government control freaks to make sure that they contain the “correct foods” in many areas of the country. For example, one 4-year-old girl recently had her lunch confiscated by a “lunch monitor” because it did not meet USDA guidelines….

A preschooler at West Hoke Elementary School ate three chicken nuggets for lunch Jan. 30 because the school told her the lunch her mother packed was not nutritious.

The girl’s turkey and cheese sandwich, banana, potato chips, and apple juice did not meet U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines, according to the interpretation of the person who was inspecting all lunch boxes in the More at Four classroom that day.

The Division of Child Development and Early Education at the Department of Health and Human Services requires all lunches served in pre-kindergarten programs – including in-home day care centers – to meet USDA guidelines. That means lunches must consist of one serving of meat, one serving of milk, one serving of grain, and two servings of fruit or vegetables, even if the lunches are brought from home.

In 1950, the United States was #1 in GDP per capita.

In 2012, the United States is #13 in GDP per capita.

In 1950, redistribution of wealth was considered to be something that “the communists” did.

In 2012, the U.S. government redistributes more wealth than anyone else in the world.

In 1950, about 13 million Americans had manufacturing jobs.

In 2012, less than 12 millionAmericans have manufacturing jobs even though our population has more than doubled since 1950.

In 1950, the entire U.S. military was mobilized to protect the borders of South Korea.

In 2012, the U.S. borders with Mexico and Canada are wide open and now there are 1.4 million gang members living inside the United States.

In 1950, there were about 2 million people living in Detroit and it was one of the greatest cities on earth.

In 2012, there are about 700,000 people living in Detroit and it has become a symbol of what is wrong with the U.S. economy.

In 1950, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was slightly over the 200 mark.

In 2012, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is threatening to soar over the 13,000 mark.

In 1950, corporate taxes accounted for about 30 percent of all federal revenue.

In 2012, corporate taxes will account for less than 7 percent of all federal revenue.

In 1950, the median age at first marriage was about 22 for men and about 20 for women.

In 2012, the median age at first marriage is about 28 for men and about 26 for women.

In 1950, many Americans dressed up in suits and dresses before getting on an airplane.

In 2012, security goons look at the exposed forms of our women and our children before they are allowed to get on to an airplane.

In 1950, each retiree’s Social Security benefit was paid for by 16 workers.

In 2012, each retiree’s Social Security benefit is paid for by approximately 3.3 workers.

In 1950, many Americans regularly left their cars and the front doors of their homes unlocked.

In 2012, many Americans live with steel bars on their windows and gun sales are at record highs.

In 1950, the American people had a great love for the U.S. Constitution.

In 2012, if you are “reverent of individual liberty“, you may get labeled as a potential terrorist by the U.S. government.

In 1950, the United States loaned more money to the rest of the world than anybody else.

In 2012, the United States owes more money to the rest of the world than anybody else.

In 1950, the U.S. national debt was about 257 billion dollars.

In 2012, the U.S. national debt is 59 times larger. It is currently sitting at a grand total of $15,435,694,556,033.29. Surely our children and our grandchildren will thank us for that.

One of the only things that is constant in life is change.

Whether we like it or not, America is going to continue to change.

Back in the 1950s and 1960s, about 70 percent of all American adults were married.

Today, only about 50 percent of all American adults are married.

We are more independent, less religious, more addicted to entertainment and more doped up on prescription drugs than Americans used to be.

We have a higher standard of living than Americans in 1950 did, but we are also drowning in an ocean of debt unlike anything the world has ever seen.

For a lot more on how the U.S. economy is doing in 2012, just check out this list of interesting facts.

So is America 2012 a better version than America 1950 was?

Have we made progress since then or are we going backwards?

Monday Musings...

Rain, Rain, go away... don't you see it's picnic day - or rather... race day! Well, yesterday it didn't happen and the Daytona 500 was moved to today, Monday - February 27, 2012. The biggest race in the world (next to the Indy 500, of course) can't even out-run the weather. For all of you race fans, out there - hope your driver wins. (My picks are Tony Stewart or Trevor Bayne)

---------------------------------

Update: (Tuesday February 28, 2012) The ultimate winner of the Daytona 500, after rain delays and a fiery crash delay (everyone was okay), was Matt Kenseth.
---------------------------------

As for the Oscars... is it over, yet? Oh yes, it is. Oh my goodners - it's not exactly that it is late or long, but it's just so boring, at times. Our family decided to tape it... so we fast forwarded through a lot of acceptance speeches. We just didn't want to give that much time to it. Did you like the show? I know many will probably think it was grand and wonderful. I just wasn't taken in. The tributes to old Hollywood were not so great, in my opinion. The one segment that showed Judy Garland and The Wizard of Oz was extremely stupid and quite pointless. It didn't showcase her at all - it just made critics of that era seem foolish. I don't know. I guess... I just am not easily impressed by spoiled elitist Hollywood actors who enjoy patting themselves on the back.

The worst moment - was when Robert Downey, Jr. mocked Tim Tebow's Christianity by pretending to bow down and pray before he came out on the stage. To me, that was extremely low. I was angry about it, at first - but now I am just sad for him and the other so-called celebrities that are so lost. I know Christ died on the cross for them, too.

Even the red carpet event was disappointing to me. I know it is frivolous and outlandish what these clothes cost when they could clothe so many people. Typically, I still see something that I find to be spectacular or lovely, but this year, I just didn't personally love any of their gowns. I found most to look like draping curtains or a step away from being "beamed up to Scotty"!

Anyway, I wish I could think of something positive or cheerful to say about it. I guess the best thing I can say is - it's over!!!

By the way, I also happened to catch one of the We Love Lucy episodes on the Hallmark Channel yesterday during their marathon event. It was wonderful and funny... as Lucy always is! That was the Hollywood days at their finest.

A report recently came out - I read it somewhere on-line, that family shows and movies actually do better at the box office, typically, than other movies do. Hopefully, their pocketbooks will listen, but I wouldn't count on it!

Traverse City don't spoil it!!!

My adopted home Traverse City sits in an area of natural beauty. Planted firmly on the 45th Parallel, there is a myriad of fantastic golden sandy beaches, in winter, the skiing is as good as anywhere and the quality of life here is amazing!

We have world class food, world class wineries, a film festival and the celebrity count is pretty high. The art scene is thriving and we have our more than our fair share of musical talent. All in all, we get by pretty well and the depressing sadness that is modern America hasn't traveled this far (yet)! Generally speaking, people here are laid back, independent and proud. We don't see drunken youths vomiting in the street, single mothers tottering around on high heels whilst pushing Burberry covered prams nor do we see a great deal of crime of any description. I suppose this is how small town America lives and strong family ties seem to be the backbone.

Of course it's not all perfect - where is - but its nice to feel safe, secure and comfortable. Arghh, my dream was shattered when I saw that these two were in town yesterday...... We don't want you - go away.......

Agenda 21 Public, Private Partnerships

Global problems need Global Solutions and so the elite roll out the "Global  Disasters" meme in order to get what they want. The Hegelian Dialectic  - problem -reaction - solution  - this is what is at play here.

Listen to the interview with the late Joan Veon. She is describing how Public Private Partnership is the new form of Government, the sinister shadowy uber Government that is wrapping it's slimy tentacles around our freedoms by stealth and slowly destroying the life force out of humanity.

There is no doubt in my mind that the Elites power and wealth grab together with Agenda 21 is the blueprint for the Malthusian agenda of depopulation of the Human species. We must be vigilant and expose this Satanic Death Cult at every opportunity - I'm not scared - just angry!!

turnintocash.com Dirty Scammers

www.turnintocash.com are dirty scammers  preying on the poorest in society and yes, they make me sick!

Slightly off topic I know but I hate scammers!!!

A British friend of mine has been having  a bit of a hard time and decided to sell some old CD's and DVD's.

Having seen a recommendation on moneysavingexpert.com for a company called turnintocash.com, who promised to pay top prices for unwanted DVD'S and CD's - suitably enticed, she decided she could do with the extra cash and so sent her haul to turnintocash who had promised her $140.

She tells the story quite eloquently;

"A Courier on behalf of turnintocash came and picked up my CD's and DVD's on the 20th December 2011.

After many phone calls and emails was assured that my parcel was being checked and I'd receive my money soon.

Email arrived 27th January 2011 with the results of the testing. It seems that some of my DVD's had failed - the most expensive ones funnily enough - even those that had never been opened!!! Still, according to them, I was due around £70 ($110) .

Cheque for £8.70 ($13) arrived a week later!

Numerous emails later ( I know they've been read as I requested a read receipt) and not even the politeness of a reply.

Spoke with Manchester Trading Standards (a complete waste of time if you ask me) and reported the matter to them.

So, quite clearly this outfit is incompetent and you should most definately steer clear.

As for the recommend on the website moneysavingexpert.com last November, I suggest Mr Lewis's team spend a little more time in their research and an apology from them should be in order too. Money saving expert has become money losing expert - 0 out of 10 Mr Lewis, must try harder!!!!"

Having searched around the dark recesses of the world wide web, it seems that  this story is only one of a great many from poor souls who entrusted their goods to turnintocash.

As their phone number is not listed on their website, I though I'd let everyone know that it is 0161 441 4231. I also found out that their real address is 16 Hamson Drive, Bollington, Macclesfield, Cheshire,SK10 5SS - not the one that appears on their website! Also the directors are a Mr Rob Fox (very apt name) and Mr Peter Petrondas, who is also a Director of Redeem (recycling) based in Scotland. His PA is Helen, and her number is 01324 678 900.

Mr R.J. Fox appointed 21 Apr 2011
also director of:
OAKBANK COURT (BOLLINGTON) MANAGEMENT LIMITED 03861641
Mr P. Petrondas appointed 06 May 2011
also director of:
ENVIRONMENTAL MOBILE CONTROL LIMITED 03280587
REDEEM ACQUISITIONS LIMITED 07664244
REDEEM HOLDINGS LIMITED 07501710
REDEEM LIMITED SC194216
V1 LEISURE LIMITED 06171448

I'll be annoying calling them often until this case is resolved to my friends' satisfaction - I will of course report back with the outcome!!

Agenda 21 and the Movement Toward a One-World Govt

The New American

In a report entitled "Your Hometown & the United Nations' Agenda 21" published in The New American's online edition for February 10, journalist William F. Jasper warned:

The UN’s Agenda 21 is definitely comprehensive and global — breathtakingly so. Agenda 21 proposes a global regime that will monitor, oversee, and strictly regulate our planet’s oceans, lakes, streams, rivers, aquifers, sea beds, coastlands, wetlands, forests, jungles, grasslands, farmland, deserts, tundra, and mountains. It even has a whole section on regulating and “protecting” the atmosphere. It proposes plans for cities, towns, suburbs, villages, and rural areas. It envisions a global scheme for healthcare, education, nutrition, agriculture, labor, production, and consumption — in short, everything; there is nothing on, in, over, or under the Earth that doesn’t fall within the purview of some part of Agenda 21.

And things have not improved since. In case the American people do not have enough with which to concern themselves, The Blaze further draws our attention to Agenda 21, a Soros-sponsored plan for world government. Already two decades old, Agenda 21 is a United Nations plan for “sustainable development” that was backed by George H.W. Bush and 177 other world leaders. Despite its seemingly innocuous intentions, The Blaze notes that several items are at risk under the plan: private property ownership, single-family homes, private car ownership and individual travel choices, and privately-owned farms.

The American Policy Center says of Agenda 21:

According to its authors, the objective of sustainable development is to integrate economic, social and environmental policies in order to achieve reduced consumption, social equity, and the preservation and restoration of biodiversity. Sustainablists insist that every societal decision be based on environmental impact, focusing on three components; global land use, global education, and global population control and reduction.

In 1987, Vice President of the World Socialist Party Gro Harlem Brundtland wrote a report for the United Nations entitled "Our Common Future," which explained that environmentalism could be used as a tool to control all the people of the world and establish a one-world government. The Blaze contends that the growth of ICLEI [the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives] and the creation of Agenda 21 is a step toward bringing Brundtland’s ideas to life. After all, the term “sustainable development” was first introduced by Brundtland.

During the Earth Summit Strategy to Save Our Planet, one of Agenda 21’s planners declared:

Agenda 21 proposes an array of actions which are intended to be implemented by every person on earth. … [I]t calls for specific changes in the activities of all people. … Effective execution of Agenda 21 will require a profound reorientation of all humans, unlike anything the world has ever experienced.

While Agenda 21 was agreed to in 1992, Bill Clinton signed an Executive Order in 1995, establishing a Presidential Council on “Sustainable Development,” which essentially provided a permanent platform for the UN plan by circumventing the approval of both Congress and the American people.

Following the establishment of the Council on Sustainable Development, J. Gary Lawrence, Council advisor to President Clinton, revealed:

Participating in a UN advocated planning process would very likely bring out many of the conspiracy-fixated groups and individuals in our society. … This segment of our society who fear "one-world government" and a UN invasion of the United States through which our individual freedom would be stripped away would actively work to defeat any elected official who joined "the conspiracy" by undertaking LA21 [Local Agenda 21]. So we call our process something else, such as comprehensive planning, growth management or smart growth.

Agenda 21 is supported by ICLEI, which has been funded by George Soros. In fact, in 1997, George Soros’ Open Society provided $2,147,415 to ICLEI in order to support its Local Agenda 21 Project. According toThe Blaze, “This type of global plan could not be implemented without a large and well-funded group pushing through its priorities. For that, Agenda 21 has the International Council of Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI). And ICLEI is deeply entrenched in America.”

ICLEI’s website reads:

ICLEI USA was launched in 1995 and has grown from a handful of local governments participating in a pilot project to a solid network of more than 600 cities, towns and counties actively striving to achieve tangible reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and create more sustainable communities. ICLEI USA is the domestic leader on climate protection and adaptation, and sustainable development at the local government level.

More than 600 cities in the United States are members of ICLEI, though most residents of those cities are unaware that their local governments are agreeing to rules and regulations dictated by a UN-based organization regarding property rights.

As observed by The Blaze, “sustainable development” is a more pleasant term for “social justice/socialism,” described by Agenda 21 as the right of the people “to benefit equally from the resources afforded us by society and the environment.” In layman’s terms, "social justice" is the justification for wealth redistribution.

The American Policy Center explains that Agenda 21’s support of wealth redistribution justifies private property restrictions, because to the proponents, private property “is a social injustice since not everyone can build wealth from it.”

This aspect of Agenda 21 should come as no surprise to anyone familiar with the United Nations. UN officials have never been fond of individual ownership of land, asserting the following during a UN Conference on Human Settlements:

Land cannot be treated as an ordinary asset, controlled by individuals and subject to the pressures and inefficiencies of the market. Private land ownership is also a principal instrument of accumulation and concentration of wealth and therefore contributes to social injustice; if unchecked, it may become a major obstacle in the planning and implementation of development schemes. The provision of decent dwellings and healthy conditions for the people can only be achieved if land is used in the interest of society as a whole.

The American Policy Center indicates that Agenda 21 has manifested itself in a variety of local projects, including Smart Growth, the Wildlands Project, Resilient Cities, Regional Visioning Projects, STAR Sustainable Communities, and most "green" initiatives including green building codes.

Cities pay dues to ICLEI so that the organization may provide community plans, software, and training. The relationship between local cities and ICLEI is funded primarily by government and foundation grants.

In California, Agenda 21 is already working on plans for sustainable management of open spaces. Debate over what open space entails has highlighted divisions between those who are directing the planning meetings and American citizens, including liberal Democrats, who are still interested in protecting private property rights.

In Austin, Texas, the city council approved an “Energy Conservation Ordinance” in 2008. The ordinance adds a new chapter to the city code relating to energy conservation audit and disclosure requirements, and creates an offense and imposes penalties.

Angered by the city council’s consideration of the ordinance, a group called Texans for Accountable Government began to scrutinize the council’s adoption of Agenda 21-friendly initiatives. TAG Member John Bush delivered a brief but concise presentation on Agenda 21 and ICLEI just prior to the vote that ultimately approved the ordinance.

In addition to private property concerns, Agenda 21 is opposed to the free market system. The Blazereports:

In the world of business Agenda 21 is not a free market friend, preferring PPPs or Private Public Partnerships where the government decides which companies will receive tax breaks and are allowed to stay in business. In light of this realization, the cozy relationship between the current administration and GE (a company that paid no federal tax in 2010) should raise eyebrows. And the WH efforts to tell Boeing in which state they can operate seems to further bolster the belief that Agenda 21 ideals are already making headway in America.

Fortunately, a number of Americans are waking up and demanding that their towns and cities retract their membership from ICLEI.
